Howe vs Praschack Fight Details

On October 3rd Nate Howe entered the cage against the current MMA Middleweight Champion, Aaron Praschack. Mr. Praschack held a respectable record of 12 wins and 5 losses going into this fight.

During Praschack's last victory over Jessie Midas of the Minnesota Martial Art Academy, commentator Mike Riley gave his opinion on the level of these fighters saying, "This might be the last time you see these two guys fighting in Minnesota because I think both of them could have the words, could have the letters U. F. C.  stamped on em. Both of them are that good, they are right at that level."
Praschack has defeated some impressive fighters including...
  • Jessie Midas from the Minnesota Martial Art Academy
  • BJ Lacy from Team MACK
  • Ron Faircloth from the Freestyle Academy
  • Ciao Malta from the Minnesota Martial Art Academy
Fight announcers Caleb Quinn and Dave Green gave a lukewarm welcome to Howe (and over 100 Warrior's Cove fans in attendance). However, during the fight they were soon changing their tune, saying "Wow, Nate Howe has really impressed me tonight! This is a phenomenal fight! This is one of the best grappling fights that I've ever seen at the Myth!"

There were five rounds of non-stop action as the capable Praschack fought Howe. After succumbing to Howe's rear naked choke at 1:16 in the 5th Round, Aaron Praschack proclaimed, "By far he is the best opponent I have ever fought!"

The Warrior's Cove wishes to congratulate Mr Praschack for his fighting spirit. He is a good fighter that did very well even though he did not win this time.  Mr. Pracheck showed admirable character in accepting defeat with dignity. The true warrior, if alive after battle, is not distracted by victory or defeat. He learns from everything, and continues to move forward.

Thanks to all the Warrior's Cove members for your ongoing training with Nate, and to those who came out to support him at his fight!

Nate Howe History and Current Training

Nate Howe came to the Warrior's Cove on 9/14/05 with no previous martial art training. Just over 17 months later, on 3/1/07 he received his Blue Belt in the Warrior's Cove MMA program (less than the average time). On 2/16/08 (a total of 2 years & 5 months of training) he received his Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Rickson Gracie International Jiu Jitsu Association by testing under Rodrigo Vaghi.

Nate currently is one of 3 Captains of the Warrior's Cove Competition Team, and he helps teach classes at the Warrior's Cove under the direction of Mr. David Arnebeck. We asked Nate to give us a little background on his days before the Cove, and his thoughts on his current training...

"I grew up playing sports my whole life. I played soccer, baseball, hockey and football. After high school I started putting on a lot of weight from being inactive. Joe [Joe Ydstie] and I found the Cove and the rest was history.

I went from being over 250 lbs to 215 in the first 3 months. Now I fight at 185 lbs., planning on dropping to 170. I owe it all to Mr. Arnebeck and the Warrior's Cove.

The training at the Warriors Cove is intelligent, safe and effective. It is not a "tough guy" school like so many others that are out there nowadays. You are taught the very core of jiujitsu and stand up fighting (striking, clinching and takedowns) which is the most important (I always preach fundamentals).

Everybody at the Cove is friendly and always willing to help each other, and when needed, willing to push each other, challenge each other and help each other grow, not only as martial artists but as human beings as well."

- Nate Howe
